Gem show, Field Trips, and AGM

Okanagan Gem Show and More! Attend the show, the BCLS AGM, and special field trips Dear members, Please be advised the Okanagan Gem Show, titled, "The Many Faces of Jasper", sponsored by the 1120 Rock Club of Kelowna and the Vernon Lapidary & Mineral Club will be taking place July 13-15 2018 at the Winfield Memorial Hall. Details can be found here: http://okanagangemshow.rocks/ The BCLS will also be hosting its AGM in Kelowna on the Saturday, and two special field trips have been organized for BCLS members in town for both the show and AGM. Annual General Meeting Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) typically takes place at Rendezvous each year. As Rendezvous 2018 was cancelled due to flooding, we have rescheduled the AGM to take place during the weekend of the Okanagan Gem Show. Here are the specifics: British Columbia Lapidary Society Annual General Meeting Saturday, July 14, 2018 5:30 PM - Refreshments 6:30 PM - Meeting Begins Choices Market Meeting Room 1937 Harvey Ave. Kelowna, BC [Google Map] At the meeting we shall hear committee and Zone reports, elect our Executive for the next year, and address a number of new business items. There is one change to the constitution to be voted on and two proposed changes to the by-laws. Saturday July 14. A trip to a private fluorite claim east of Vernon. Expect to find green and purple fluorite and some crystals as well. This is hard rock, so bring a shovel, hammer, and chisel.  Sunday July 15. A trip to a private claim near Monte Lake. Expect to find blue & yellow agate, pink agate, white agate with streaks, and possibly pink opal. This is hard rock, so bring a shovel, hammer, and chisel.  The wagonmaster for both trips is Cindy Aspeslet (250-545-0290). You don't need to sign up, just arrive at the meet site on time. Both trips are meeting at the Walmart in Vernon, west side of the parking lot close to the Taco del Mar restaurant. The address is 2200 58th Avenue in Vernon. Be there by 7:45 am as cars will depart at 8 am sharp. You'll be back from the fluorite trip in plenty of time for the AGM at 5:30 in Kelowna. I hope to see you there!
