Shuswap Rock Club Event
Hello,
My name is Florence and I am the
treasurer of the Shuswap Rock Club, in Sorrento, BC. Our club is going to be
hosting a tailgate sale on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
As a club we have missed a lot of
association with our fellow BC Rock Club members, that we were able to enjoy at
various events hosted by the clubs. We would like to start enjoying getting
together again now that so many Covid restrictions have been eased. So we would
like to invite all your members to come out and join us in May, a chance to
meet new friends and connect with old friends we haven’t seen in awhile. We
will be having various members selling their rock crafts, their rocks &
minerals, and some used equipment. Any of your club members would be welcome to
be a vendor to sell their rock related items.
We will also have our popular Spin
& Win game, where everyone wins a prize.
We are inviting vendors, private or
commercial to attend this sale. It is open to all BC Rock Club Members.
This sale will be conducted similar to previous zone tailgate sales held at
Swan Lake in Vernon BC. This sale will be located at:
5 Corners Pentecostal Church, Parking
Lot, 3160 10th Ave SE Salmon Arm
May 7, 2022. 9 am - 2 pm.
-The qualifications to participate as
a vendor are that you must be a current paid up member(2022)of a BC Rock
Club.
Bring your membership card or BCLS
card to show proof.
-The product you are selling must be
rock related: ie finished work, slabs, rough rock, lapidary equipment(working
or not).
- The cost to rent a space for the day
is $20.00. Bring your own tables.
There could be up to 25 spaces
available with five already taken so you need to reserve a space soon. If you
want to be a vendor you will need to provide your own tables and tent(if you
want one).
Cheque or e-transfer to hold
your space.
This is a social event, an opportunity
to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, so we welcome you to come out
and enjoy yourselves.
To reserve a space or for more info,
please contact Florence

Notice of Meeting
Greetings to all
Well after 2 years plus of
restrictions, fires, smoke and floods it is time to revive our Club.
The Club executive has met and discussed how to best move forward.
The first club meeting will take place on APRIL 16th at
1:00 p.m. The venue will be the Oliver Seniors Center, 5876 Airport
Street Oliver.
You will find attached a proposal to
alter some of our existing Constitution and Bylaws. This email will serve as 30
days notice of the proposal. These items will be discussed and voted on at this
April meeting. Current memberships will be available at this time.
We are hoping for an exciting
year combining field trips, presentations, events with other clubs and
local community displays. A request for interest was put out on social media
and we received a tremendous response from the community .
I would like to see as many members as
possible in attendance so we can all move the club forward with
enthusiasm. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the number below with

Rendezvous 2022
RENDEZVOUS 2022
Coombs, BC
(June 2nd to 6th, Thursday to Monday)
Host Clubs: Vancouver Island Zone
Victory Lapidary and Mineral Society, Cowichan Valley Rockhounds, Parksville & District Rock & Gem,
Courtenay Gem and Mineral Club, Alberni Valley Rock & Gem, Ripple Rock Gem & Mineral Club
General Information: Event Blog
Vancouver Island Rock & Gem Clubs are pleased to invite you to Rendezvous 2022! It will be
held at the historic Coombs Fair Grounds. There are many attractions in the area such as Goats
on the Roof and The Butterfly Gardens. The Horn Lake Caves, Qualicum Falls and Englishman
River Falls Provincial Parks offer great hiking and exploring for those who might like to spend
more time in the area. This is a very popular, well-known tourist area so it is great to have such
a comfortable venue close to so many alternate activities and attractions.
There is ample room for dry RV camping and tenting on the grounds (a few electrical hookups
may be made available to support any special needs). No showers are available but there is
running hot and cold water in the bathrooms in Arrowsmith Hall. We will try to set up a shower
tent for those who are willing to brave a cool shower. The cost for these spots is $15 per night
with check-in starting at 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon. Dogs are welcome at no extra charge.
There are two provincial campgrounds nearby, as well as a private campground down the
street, called Coombs Country Campground, for those requiring full hook-ups. There are, of
course, many motels in the Parksville/Qualicum area for those who do not camp.
We have three full days of fun, engaging activities planned with choices for those wishing a very
active experience or a more laid back one.
Registration:
Full info and registration forms will be posted on the BCLS website in November, at which time
we will ask BCLS to send out e-mail notification that the materials are posted.
